COVID-19 Update - 9/11/2020
Good evening Yarbrough family. You may have seen a post late this afternoon from Texas County Emergency Management stating that Texas County is now in the "red" as far as the number of active COVID-19 cases. The post refers to guidance from the Oklahoma State Department of Education which recommends the closing of school buildings in "red" counties. Let me be clear about a couple of things. First, the guidance to close school buildings in "red" counties is a recommendation, not a mandate. Secondly, and more importantly, the decision to close school buildings in our district will be made by our district, and that decision will be made based on what is actually happening in our district. It will not be a one-size-fits-all, county-wide decision. The safety and well-being of our staff and students are of the utmost importance to us, and we are closely monitoring the situation. At this time, we are not aware of any active cases in our school. Based on that information, we will be continuing in-person learning. We understand that this is an ever-evolving situation and things can certainly change, but for now, we plan to be open for in-person learning on Monday.
