Yarbrough students receive Ones at OSSAA State Solo and Ensemble Contest

 

Yarbrough sophomore clarinet player, Ramee Aranda received a rating of I or Superior at the OSSAA State Instrumental Solo contest on April 18, in Stillwater, OK. She performed Prelude by Jarnefelt which was arranged by Lowery.

 

On Thursday, April 19, the Yarbrough Belle Ensemble, Yarbrough Quintet, Ashley Pike and Ramee Aranda all performed their contest pieces at OBU in Shawnee, OK.  Ashley Pike received a rating of I for Haydn’s “The Mermaid’s Song.” The Yarbrough Belle Ensemble received a Superior rating on their performance of “And This Shall Be for Music” by Stevenson and Lightfoot. Members of this ensemble are Ramee Aranda, Ashely Pike, Minni Loewen, Agatha Loewen, Roebeka Loewen, Marisa Lopez, Megan Bledsoe, Clarizza Ecot, and Veronica Butler. Yarbrough Quintet, made up of Minni Loewen, Agatha Loewen, Roebeka Loewen, Ramee Aranda and Ashley Pike received a rating of II or Excellent on their performance of “Sing Joyful Praise!” by Beethoven, Lightfoot, Van Dyke and the Scriptures. Ramee Aranda also received a excellent rating on her performance of the Old Irish Air, “O Danny Boy.”
